Golden Plains Wind Farm : TagEnergy to begin construction soon on stage one

TagEnergy, a part of France-based Impala SAS Group, will soon begin construction on stage one of the 1.3GW Golden Plains Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia, following the financial closure of the project.

The construction work on the $2 billion Golden Plains Wind Farm in Rokewood will commence early in 2023,

TagEnergy, the sole investor in Stage One, has contracted Vestas for turbine supply, AusNet Services for the grid connection works on a build, own, and operate model, and the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) for grid connection.

The 756MW Stage One will feature 122 Vestas V162-6.2MW wind turbines from its EnVentus platform.

The Golden Plains Wind Farm will produce green energy for over 750,000 houses, almost every home in the Victorian region.

Australian company WestWind Energy will manage the Golden Plains wind project for 30 years, apart from developing the 500MW+ Stage Two and the 300MW battery storage facility, which will add flexibility and stability to the grid at Golden Plains Wind Farm.

Tobias Geiger — WestWind Energy Managing Director said: “This is a landmark moment after 15 years’ development, extensive planning and consultation, meeting the highest level of environmental scrutiny, and forging community partnerships to bring the project to fruition.”

The Golden Plains wind project has also received non-recourse finance from Australia’s green bank, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac, Bank of China, Denmark’s EKF, Japan‘s Mizuho Bank, and Germany’s KfW IPEX-Bank.

The Golden Plains Wind Farm is anticipated to produce its first green energy in Q1 2025.
