Californian commercial bakery Global Bakeries acquires Better Baking

Global Bakeries acquisition of Better Baking : Global Bakeries, a commercial bakery based in California led by Surge Private Equity, has acquired Better Baking for an undisclosed price.

Financing for the acquisition was provided by The Firmament Group, as per the latest food acquisition news.

Better Baking, which is based in Van Nuys, California, has been providing more than 300 stock keeping units of fresh cookies, loaves of bread, and pitas to regional markets and national chains across the US for more than 25 years.

Lewis Sharp – Partner at Surge Private Equity, commenting on Global Bakeries acquisition of Better Baking, said: “This acquisition greatly expands our product line, allows Global to reach new customers, and enables us to offer our existing customers higher quality service. Ash brings over 25 years of operational experience and has proven his knack for creating quality products. We are thrilled about this partnership.”

Global Bakeries acquisition of Better Baking is the second add-on for the former this year following its recent acquisition of Bubbles Baking in April.

All the three bakeries operate within a 10-mile radius of one another in Van Nuys. Global Bakeries said that Ash Aghasi, the seller of Better Baking, will join it as Chief Operating Officer.

Commenting on Global Bakeries acquisition of Better Baking, Chris Botticella – Global Bakeries CEO, said, “We are excited to partner with Ash, as Better has established itself as a manufacturer of premium bakery products in the regional LA market. Add to that the synergies in our operational geography, it became a no-brainer to acquire such a parallel company.”

Established in 1985, Global Bakeries specializes in producing bagels, croissants, flatbreads, pita bread, and pita chips. Global Bakeries, which is said to be among the largest privately-owned specialty bakeries in the western half of the US, has more than 70 employees in its Pacoima baking facility.
