Texas LNG Brownsville LLC, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Energy Transition, LLC, has reached a significant milestone by signing a Heads of Agreement (HOA) with EQT Corporation for natural gas liquefaction services. This agreement is a key step towards the construction of a four million tonnes per annum (MTPA) liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in the Port of Brownsville, Texas.
Texas LNG Brownsville LLC Advances with Key Agreement
The HOA lays the groundwork for a definitive 15-year LNG tolling agreement, signifying Texas LNG’s commitment to providing 0.5 MTPA of LNG from the first train of the facility. Brendan Duval, CEO and Founder of Glenfarne, expressed his enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, “We are proud to welcome EQT as a customer and partner for Texas LNG, with our industry-leading low-emissions facility liquefying US natural gas for global markets. This is an important milestone for Texas LNG, with additional agreements to be announced in the near-term as we progress towards a Final Investment Decision.”
Glenfarne’s Strategic Expansion in LNG Infrastructure
Glenfarne, recognized for developing, owning, and operating energy transition infrastructure, plays a pivotal role as the majority owner and managing member of Texas LNG. The project is set to achieve financial close and commence construction in 2024, with the anticipation of starting commercial operations between late 2027 and early 2028. Additionally, Glenfarne exclusively owns and develops the 8.8 MTPA Magnolia LNG in Lake Charles, Louisiana, further cementing its position in the LNG sector.
Texas LNG’s establishment in the Port of Brownsville is part of Glenfarne’s broader strategy to lead in global energy transition initiatives.
