GE Vernova launches advanced hydrogen-ready power plant in Guangdong, China

GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE: GEV) has successfully commenced commercial operations of the Guangdong Huizhou Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant in China. This milestone is powered by GE Vernova’s hydrogen-ready 9HA.01 combined-cycle power generation equipment, capable of injecting up to 1.34 gigawatts (GW) of electricity into the grid.

The Guangdong Huizhou plant, owned by the state-run Guangdong Energy Group Co., Ltd., represents a significant step forward in the integration of hydrogen into mainstream power solutions. The plant’s gas turbines are expected to burn up to 10% hydrogen blended with natural gas within the next two years, aligning with China’s ambitious hydrogen energy development plans for 2035.
