FSSAI confirms McDonald’s India uses 100% real cheese in its products
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the nation’s premier food safety regulator under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has recently validated McDonald’s India‘s claim of using ‘100% Real Cheese‘ in its products. This verification not only supports McDonald’s India’s assertions about its food quality but also clarifies that the company does not employ any cheese analogues or substitutes in its offerings. This approval from FSSAI serves as a significant endorsement of McDonald’s India’s commitment to adhering to the highest food quality standards across its operations.
FSSAI, established under the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006, plays a crucial role as the apex body for food standards and regulations in India. Its confirmation that McDonald’s India’s products contain genuine cheese and are free from any non-dairy substitutes is pivotal. This clean chit emphasizes the fast-food giant’s unwavering dedication to maintaining stringent food safety protocols.
Furthermore, McDonald’s India (W&S) bolstered its stance on food quality through test results from a National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accredited laboratory, which also affirmed the use of 100% Real Cheese. This dual verification process highlights the rigorous standards and independent evaluations that McDonald’s India subjects its ingredients to, ensuring their authenticity and safety for consumer consumption.
Saurabh Kalra, Managing Director of McDonald’s India (W&S), commented on the achievement, stating, “The clean chit we have received from FSSAI, India’s apex food safety standards regulator, affirms that our products contain 100% Real cheese, sourced from globally renowned suppliers. The recent tests conducted by NABL-accredited labs also validate this and the fact that our products do not contain any cheese analogues or substitutes.” He further reiterated the company’s long-standing commitment to quality since its inception in 1996, assuring customers and stakeholders of the integrity and genuineness of their products.
This endorsement allows McDonald’s India (W&S) to continue labeling its cheese-containing products accurately, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and building trust with consumers. The company’s dedication to sourcing authentic ingredients from globally recognized suppliers and conducting bi-annual independent tests underscores its promise of delivering high-quality food.
This story reflects a broader trend within the food industry towards transparency and quality assurance, aligning with consumer expectations for authenticity in food ingredients. McDonald’s India’s ability to maintain high standards and earn the trust of both regulatory authorities and customers sets a benchmark for the industry.
