Foresight Group, a London-based private equity investment manager, has acquired a 94MW operating windfarm portfolio in Spain from German wind farm developer wpd, for an undisclosed price.
The acquisition marks the second investment made by its subsidiary Foresight Energy Infrastructure Partners (FEIP). It is also the second acquisition from wpd, the first being a 50MW wind portfolio in Germany.
The acquired two wind farms in the latest deal, which put together have 27 G-132 3.465MW turbines from Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy wind turbine generators which were installed in the Castile and León region in northwestern Spain.
According to Foresight, the Spanish wind portfolio benefits additionally from ongoing operational management services offered by wpd windmanager, a fully-owned subsidiary of wpd.
Revenues of the two Spanish wind farms are supported by a 10-year, fixed-price power purchasing agreement with Statkraft. Further revenue protection is said to come from participation in the Spanish tender rounds two and three of the Spanish support scheme for renewable energy.
