Exploring Langkasuka Basin: PETRONAS initiates advanced seismic survey in Malaysia

TAGS

PETRONAS, Malaysia’s leading oil and gas company, has announced the commencement of a significant offshore multi-client 2D seismic survey in the Straits of Melaka. The survey aims to explore and map the hydrocarbon potential in the open blocks of PM320 and PM321 in the Langkasuka Basin.

Enhancing Seismic Data Pool for Hydrocarbon Discovery

This seismic survey, initiated in October 2023, is set to be completed by the end of December this year. Covering an expansive area of over 38,000 square kilometres, the survey will acquire approximately 8,000 kilometres of new 2D seismic data. It is meticulously designed to provide high-quality seismic data, crucial for prospecting pre-Tertiary targets in the region.
