Excelerate FSRU Exemplar set to supply natural gas to Finnish and Baltic nations

Excelerate Energy, a US-based liquefied natural gas (LNG) company, has delivered its floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), the Exemplar, to Gasgrid Finland Oy, a Finnish state-owned natural gas transmission system operator.

The FSRU Exemplar loaded with a partial cargo of LNG will serve as the initial commissioning cargo for the terminal.

The FSRU Exemplar is chartered to Gasgrid for ten years to deliver flexible, reliable, and secure regasified LNG to Finland and other Baltic nations.

Steven Kobos — Excelerate Energy President and CEO said: “The arrival of the FSRU Exemplar at the port of Inkoo represents an important milestone for Finland as it prepares to enhance its energy security and bring essential energy infrastructure to the region.

The Exemplar FSRU arrived at the port of Inkoo, Finland, after procuring its cargo from Excelerate Energy’s global LNG portfolio through a ship-to-ship transfer with the FSRU Excelsior near Gibraltar.

The FSRU, which has recently completed its 10-year service in Israel, will go on charter to Germany in 2023.

Excelerate Energy offers a full range of flexible regasification services from FSRUs to infrastructure development to LNG supply.
