Ericsson opens enrollment for fifth edition of digital lab program in Italy

Ericsson has unveiled the opening of registrations for the fifth edition of its Digital Lab program, designed to equip high school students in Rome, Milan, Genoa, Naples, and Pagani with advanced digital skills. This innovative training initiative aims to complement traditional education with hands-on digital expertise, preparing future talents to understand the technology-driven job market and make informed choices about their post-graduation paths.

Ericsson’s Digital Lab: A Game-Changer for Italian Students

The Digital Lab program stands out for its practical approach to education, emphasizing real-world application of theoretical knowledge. This year’s edition, running from mid-October 2024 to mid-May 2025, will focus on three key modules: Robotics, Electronics, and Artificial Intelligence. These areas were selected based on current market demands, aiming to develop students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovative capabilities. By engaging in project-based learning and collaborative activities, students will be better prepared for dynamic professional environments.

A Legacy of Success and Growth

Since its inception, the Digital Lab has made significant strides. The 2024/2025 edition follows the success of previous years, which saw over 1,000 students from more than 20 schools across five cities, including Genoa, Milan, Pagani, Pisa, and Rome, participate in the program. This year, schools interested in joining must submit their applications via the provided link by September 20.

Expert Guidance and Hands-On Experience

Participants will benefit from the expertise of over 80 Ericsson volunteers, including engineers, IT specialists, project managers, and network experts. These professionals will mentor and inspire students, sharing their knowledge and helping to shape the next generation of tech talent. The program also integrates into Italy’s school-to-work transition and Transversal Skills and Orientation (PCTO) pathways, offering practical experience that bridges the gap between academic learning and the professional world.

Global Impact and Recognition

Italy joins Sweden as the second country to adopt Ericsson’s global Digital Lab program, which launched in Gothenburg in 2018. In 2019, the program received the Confindustria Quality Label for School-Work Alternation, recognizing its role in addressing the skills mismatch in the labor market. The Digital Lab is part of Ericsson’s broader “Connect to Learn” initiative, which has positively impacted over 485,000 children across 43 countries since its establishment in 2010.
