Aryan Anand, an Indian student at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, was arrested and deported following the discovery of his extensive fraudulent activities to obtain a full scholarship. Anand’s elaborate scheme included falsifying financial records, transcripts, and even creating a fake death certificate for his father, who was found to be alive in India.

The fraud came to light after a suspicious Reddit post by Anand, in which he boasted about his deceitful actions, was flagged by a platform moderator. This led to a thorough investigation by the Lehigh University Police Department, supported by the Northampton County Assistant District Attorney Michael Weinert. Anand was arrested on charges of forgery and theft of services, with his bail set at $25,000.
