Downer EDI wins road maintenance contract worth $314m in Victoria

Downer EDI Limited has secured a road maintenance contract worth AUD 490 million ($314.3 million) from Victoria’s Department of Transport.

The road maintenance contract in Victoria is for a maximum period of seven-and-a-half years. It will start in February 2023 for an initial period of three and a half years and has the option for a couple of extensions for two years.

As per the contract, Downer EDI will be responsible for routine maintenance, the rectification of defects and hazards, planned maintenance, and emergency response services to over 8,500 lane kilometres of road in the Hume region in Victoria.

The contract is for a stretch starting from Mitchell Shire located on the edge of metropolitan Melbourne to the northeast corner of Victoria.

With the new contract, the new contract will extend the partnership of Downer EDI with the Victorian Department of Transport to the maintenance of over 9,500 lane kilometres of state roads in the Australian state.
