Downer EDI Limited has bagged a couple of road maintenance contracts worth around AUD 800 million ($555 million) from Auckland Transport in New Zealand.
The contracts awarded to the Australian integrated services company have a maximum term of 10 years and will come into effect from next month.
According to Downer EDI, the contracts have an initial five-year term followed by extension options for an additional five years.
Grant Fenn — Downer EDI CEO said: “Downer maintains 28,000 kilometres of roads across Australia and 25,000 kilometres across New Zealand.
“Downer has been maintaining roads in Auckland for more than 30 years, and we look forward to continue working closely with Auckland Transport to deliver reliable road networks to ensure efficient and safe journeys.”
Downer EDI will perform the role of stewards of the Central network and North Rural network of Auckland Transport. The company will be providing maintenance and renewal activities and emergency repairs.
