Dollar General opens new Colorado distribution center, adding 400 jobs to Aurora

Dollar General unveiled its first distribution center in Colorado, marking a significant expansion into the Centennial State. The opening event in Aurora saw company leadership, employees, their families, and local officials—including Governor Jared Polis—in attendance. Highlighting its commitment to “Serving Others,” the company celebrated by donating $10,000 each to Aurora Public Schools and Food Bank of the Rockies.

The Aurora facility, spanning nearly one million square feet, is expected to employ approximately 400 people once it reaches full operational capacity. Dollar General CEO Todd Vasos noted that the center will generate “positive economic impact through new jobs and long-term career opportunities,” and emphasized the company’s commitment to better serving its growing customer base across the western United States.

Governor Polis expressed enthusiasm for the 400 new jobs in Aurora, underscoring Colorado’s strong business environment and the potential benefits the new center will bring to the local economy and communities.

A Step Forward for Dollar General in Colorado

With its first store established in Colorado in 2006, Dollar General has steadily increased its presence in the state, currently employing over 950 residents across various locations. The Aurora distribution center will also support the company’s growing DG Private Fleet, enhancing distribution efficiency for Dollar General stores throughout the western U.S.

Community-Focused Philanthropy

As part of its grand opening celebrations, Dollar General donated $10,000 each to Aurora Public Schools for literacy and educational initiatives and to Food Bank of the Rockies to support food security efforts. These contributions align with Dollar General’s overarching mission of “Serving Others,” as the company looks to make meaningful impacts within the communities where it operates.

The grand opening of the Aurora distribution center is a milestone for Dollar General’s operations in the West. With plans underway to open an additional distribution center in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 2025, the company’s expansion strategy signals continued growth and community investment.
