Denver Health outpatient medical center in Denver breaks ground
Hospital industry news : Denver Health has officially commenced construction of a new Outpatient Medical Center (OMC) in Denver, Colorado with an investment of $157 million.
The dignitaries present at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center were Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, Denver Health CEO Robin Wittenstein and Congresswoman Diana DeGette.
The new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center, which will open to patients in 2020, will be a 293,000sft facility that will have 20 specialty clinics, procedural areas, day surgery and ancillary services such as pharmacy and radiology, all under one roof.
As per a feasibility study, patient demand by 2019 will be more than the existing capacity in Denver Health outpatient clinics. The new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center will help meet that demand and is expected to greatly boost the hospital’s patient capacity, providing outpatient care and meeting the future needs of Denver.
It will also improve Denver Health’s ability to offer treatment for heart disease, cancer, diabetes and also serve as a center for behavioral health, dental and oral health and provide expanded services for eye examination and physical therapy.
According to Denver Health, consolidation of the clinics through the new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center will create space around the campus, thus letting the hospital to improve primary services, add more inpatient psychiatric beds and expand operation rooms.
About a third of Denver’s population are said to look up to Denver Health for medical care, making the hospital a prominent place for preventative, primary and acute care services.
In work related to the new Denver Health Outpatient Medical Center, the former Denver Health administration building at 660 Bannock St was demolished in the summer of 2018.
