CTC Global has officially opened its fifth ACCC Conductor Core manufacturing facility, strategically located in Pune, India. This new facility marks a significant step in CTC Global’s commitment to supporting India’s initiative to expand and enhance the efficiency of its power grid, which is the third largest in the world in terms of production and consumption.
The choice of Pune for CTC Global’s newest manufacturing base was influenced by several key factors. Pune is recognized as a major manufacturing hub in India, with excellent transport connections to ports and markets across the country. It also boasts a large, well-educated workforce and world-class industrial development parks, making it an ideal location for such a sophisticated manufacturing operation.
J.D. Sitton, CEO of CTC Global, expressed enthusiasm about the new facility’s potential impact: “India’s power grid is increasingly a source of pride for India. CTC’s Pune facility will ensure that the advanced conductors used on the grid are increasingly Made in India,” he stated. The Pune facility joins CTC Global’s other manufacturing sites in the United States, China, Indonesia, and Paraguay, enhancing the company’s global production capabilities.
The ACCC Conductor, produced by CTC Global, is designed to increase the capacity of existing electric systems and link new renewable generation assets. It’s known for reducing thermal sag, improving safety and reliability, and reducing wildfire risks. The conductor’s ability to decrease electrical line losses by 25 to 40% or more significantly reduces fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) / CO2 emissions.
Hitesh Mundhada, CTC Global’s Vice President for South Asia, highlighted the local benefits: “CTC’s new core production facility in Pune will better support our Indian utility customers and our outstanding ACCC Manufacturing Partners.” These partners, which include Apar Industries, Sterlite Power, Gupta Power, and JSK Industries, have already delivered over 20,000 kilometers of ACCC Conductors to major utilities across 23 Indian States and 2 territories.
