Crompton Greaves secures major solar pump work order under PM Kusum Scheme in Haryana
Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Limited, a well-regarded brand in India’s pump industry, has secured an inaugural work order for 7.5 HP and 10 HP Solar Submersible Water Pumping Systems in Haryana. This milestone work order comes from the New & Renewable Energy Department Haryana and HAREDA, under the umbrella of the PM Kusum Scheme.
Expanding Renewable Energy Footprint in India
The secured work order is a part of a broader initiative led by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), aiming to replace and establish new connections for 660,000 pumps across India. Crompton aims to deploy a significant number of solar pumps under the PM Kusum Scheme in the next two years. The company has engaged in the tender process for four states – Maharashtra, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh – with initial groundwork overseen by SECI and MNRE.
Sustainable Impact on Agriculture and Environment
Today, solar energy is gaining traction for its positive environmental impact, reducing carbon footprints and lowering energy costs for farmers. Crompton is working toward a sustainable future with its new range of solar-powered pumps, backed by advanced R&D and a rigorous five-stage product development process.
“At Crompton, we take immense pride in our legacy of bringing innovation that enriches the lives of our consumers. Pumps are a critical application in delivering water and ensuring uninterrupted flow of essential utilities. While we have established ourselves as a leader in the residential pumps market, this achievement will further reinforce our leadership position as a frontrunner in the solar water pumps category. This strategic move underlines our commitment to delivering cutting-edge and sustainable solutions while also ensuring the economic viability of farming operations. We are thrilled to be a part of this transformative journey, harnessing the potential of solar energy to revolutionize the agricultural pumps industry,” said Rajat Chopra, VP and Business Head, Pumps at Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd.
State Nodal Agencies and Future Plans
The project has transitioned to the respective state nodal agencies—HAREDA (Haryana), MEDA, MSEDCL (Maharashtra), MPUVNL (Madhya Pradesh), and RHDS, RUVVNL (Rajasthan)—for the final execution phase. Crompton is set to initiate operations in Haryana and is also prepared to make an impact in other participating states. With this, Crompton is not only solidifying its position in the renewable energy sector but is also contributing to India’s overarching renewable energy goals.
