CPB Contractors bags contract for Sydney Metro–Western Sydney Airport link
CPB Contractors, a CIMIC Group company, has won a contract as part of a joint venture (JV) to carry out the surface civil and alignment works for the Sydney Metro-Western Sydney Airport rail link.
According to CIMIC Group, the rail link is between Orchard Hills and the new Western Sydney Airport Station.
The contract, which is funded by the Australian and New South Wales governments, will produce revenue of around AUD 395 million to CPB Contractors.
CPB Contractors is partnered by United Infrastructure in the JV. United Infrastructure, in turn, is a group of companies based in Western Sydney, which include Burton Contractors, Mulgoa Quarries, and JK Williams.
Juan Santamaria — CIMIC Group Executive Chairman and CEO said: “We’re proud to be part of delivering this important transport infrastructure for Western Sydney, and its contribution to the area’s growth.
“The airport and associated transport projects are central to Sydney’s economic future, and we’ll be ensuring that local communities benefit through the creation of employment and supplier opportunities.”
The contract works include 3.4km of elevated viaduct at Orchard Hills and Luddenham, 6.7km of earthworks for track formation, a 190m long rail bridge over the new M12 motorway, a 20m long rail bridge within the airport, temporary and permanent access roads, and bulk earthworks for the stabling and maintenance facility site.
CIMIC Group said that the contract will begin this year and is slated to be wrapped up in 2024.
Jason Spears — CPB Contractors Managing Director said: “CPB Contractors is pleased to have another opportunity to work with Sydney Metro and to work closely with the local companies that make up United Infrastructure in delivering new infrastructure in Western Sydney.
“Our team will leverage all its experience to ensure that these works are delivered safely and to schedule.”
In September 2021, CPB Contractors in consortium with ACCIONA won a contract to build the landing runway for the new Western Sydney International Airport (Nancy Bird Walton International Airport).
