Constellation Cold Logistics expands into Denmark with acquisition of Agri-Norcold

Constellation Cold Logistics, a leading European cold storage and logistics provider, has announced its entry into the Danish market through the acquisition of Agri-Norcold A/S. This strategic move enhances Constellation’s European presence, reinforcing its service capabilities in the Nordics and expanding its footprint to accommodate both existing and new clients in Denmark.

Agri-Norcold, headquartered in Aalborg, Denmark, has been a dominant force in the Danish cold storage sector since its inception in 1964. The company operates ten facilities across Denmark, strategically located near key food production hubs, import/export points, and major cities. With a storage capacity of 865,756 cubic metres of frozen goods, equivalent to 266,000 pallet spaces, Agri-Norcold’s infrastructure includes advanced freezing and packing facilities. Since 2012, the company has been jointly owned by TA-Logistics A/S and Danish Crown.

Carlos Rodriguez, CEO of Constellation Cold Logistics, remarked that the acquisition of Agri-Norcold opens up significant strategic opportunities in Denmark. He noted that it bolsters Constellation’s position in the Nordics, a region where the company already maintains robust partnerships and growth prospects. Rodriguez emphasized the importance of Agri-Norcold’s established relationships with major food producers and its alignment with Constellation’s expansion goals in a major European food exporter like Denmark.

Thorkil Andersen, CEO of TA-Logistics A/S and Chairman of Agri-Norcold, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition. Andersen highlighted that Agri-Norcold’s customer-centric approach aligns well with Constellation’s operational ethos. He anticipates enhanced collaboration between the companies, both within Denmark and across other regions where TA-Logistics operates, including its subsidiary Frode Laursen A/S.

Jan Nielsen, Managing Director of Agri-Norcold, praised the company’s employees for their contributions over the years. Nielsen expressed enthusiasm about the expanded opportunities and growth prospects that will come with joining Constellation. He reassured customers of continued excellent service and new possibilities as part of Constellation’s broader European network.

Constellation Cold Logistics is noted for its extensive independent cold storage and logistics operations across Europe, with approximately 700,000 pallet positions. The company’s acquisition of Agri-Norcold will further bolster its capabilities and presence in seven European countries.

TA-Logistics A/S, a family-owned investment firm, focuses on logistics and operates several subsidiaries, including Frode Laursen A/S, IN-Store A/S, Kaj Madsen Fjelstrup A/S, and Skanol A/S. The group boasts over 3,000 employees, 600,000 square metres of warehouse space, and 1,300 transport vehicles.
