Capita bags £94m extension for PSCE contract from NHSEI
Capita plc has won a three-year extension to its Primary Care Support England (PSCE) contract, worth £94 million, from NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSEI).
The London-based business process outsourcing and professional services company said that the PSCE contract has been extended to 31 August 2025.
Under the contract, Capita will be providing digital, logistical, and support services to all of the primary care practitioners in England working in the NHS. This includes GPs, opticians, dentists, and pharmacists.
Capita had first secured the PCSE contract in 2015. The company said that during the last seven years, it has considerably invested in ensuring the execution of complex digital transformation projects for NHSEI.
According to Capita, the service improvements brought about by it are standardizing primary care processes across England, and introducing the PCSE Online platform, which is said to have digitised several services that are highly important to primary care practitioners’ roles which were paper or desk-based in the past.
Al Murray — Capita Public Service CEO said: “The extension of our contract with NHS England and NHS Improvement reflects our focus and commitment to continuing to improve and deliver for the organisation, as for all our clients and customers.
“We are proud to have introduced a number of significant digital capabilities which have helped make the services we deliver for England’s primary care practitioners more efficient.
“This renewal reflects our ability to retain and continue to work with important clients and partners by successfully delivering for them.”
Recently, Capita won a five-year contract worth up to £63m from ScottishPower to deliver front-line customer support services for the latter’s customers in the UK.
