Cadila Healthcare bags order for 1cr ZyCoV-D vaccines from Indian govt
Cadila Healthcare (Zydus Cadila) has bagged an order from the Indian government to deliver one crore doses of its ZyCoV-D Plasmid DNA Covid-19 vaccine.
According to Zydus Cadila, the vaccines will be supplied at INR 265 per dose along with needle-free applicators priced at INR 93 per dose, excluding GST.
The Indian pharma company said that the pricing has been decided in consultation with the government.
Dr. Sharvil Patel — Managing Director of Zydus Cadila said: “We are happy to support the Government’s vaccination programme with ZyCoV-D. The needle-free application of the vaccination, we hope, will motivate many more to vaccinate and safeguard themselves from COVID-19, especially children and young adults in the age group of 12 to 18 years.”
The ZyCoV-D vaccine was granted emergency use authorization (EUA) in August 2021 from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) to provide protection from Covid-19 for adults as well as adolescents in the age group of 12-18 years.
The DNA plasmid vaccine is needle-free and administered with The PharmaJet needle free applicator for ensuring painless intradermal vaccine delivery, which is also said to result in considerable reduction in any types of major side effects.
Zydus Cadila claimed that ZyCoV-D has shown good stability at temperatures of around 25º for at least three months. The company believes that the thermostability of the new Covid-19 vaccine will help in easy transportation as well as its storage without any problems of temperature fluctuations.
