Bytes Technology Group appoints new CEO and directors to strengthen governance and drive strategic initiatives

Bytes Technology Group plc (BTG), a leading UK-based provider of software, security, and cloud services, has announced significant appointments to its leadership team, marking a strategic move to bolster its governance and operational expertise. The company confirmed Sam Mudd as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and introduced two new Independent Non-Executive Directors to its Board, enhancing its focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

Strategic Leadership Appointments at BTG

Sam Mudd, who has been an integral part of BTG since July 2023 and served as the interim CEO since February 2024, has now been appointed as the CEO. With over 20 years of leadership experience, Sam’s extensive background includes a successful tenure as Managing Director at Phoenix Software Limited, a subsidiary of BTG since 2017. Under her leadership, Phoenix has seen significant organic growth, substantially contributing to BTG’s success. Her previous roles at notable companies like WordPerfect, Novell Inc., and Trustmarque Solutions underscore her profound industry knowledge and leadership capabilities.

In addition to the CEO appointment, BTG has welcomed Ross Paterson and Anna Vikström Persson as Independent Non-Executive Directors. Ross Paterson, set to chair the Audit Committee from June 2024, is a seasoned Chartered Accountant with extensive experience in senior executive finance roles, most notably a 23-year tenure at Stagecoach Group Limited. Anna Vikström Persson, with her robust background in human resources at leading firms like Pearson plc and Sandvik AB, will join the Audit, Nomination, and Remuneration Committees, bringing valuable expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Formation of an ESG Committee

Recognizing the growing importance of sustainable and ethical governance, BTG has also announced the formation of an ESG Committee, effective from June 2024. Chaired by Anna Vikström Persson, the committee aims to steer the company’s ESG and sustainability strategy, focusing on climate transition, diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical business practices.

Upcoming Corporate Announcements

Bytes Technology Group is poised to announce its preliminary results for the financial year ended February 2024 soon. The Board is also expected to conclude an investigation into the resignation of former CEO Neil Murphy, with findings to be disclosed in conjunction with the financial results.
