BW Offshore to have FPSO BW Cidade de São Vicente recycled at Indian shipyard

BW Offshore said that it has inked an agreement for recycling the FPSO BW Cidade de São Vicente at the shipyard of Priya Blue Industries in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, India.

According to the Norwegian operator of floating production storage and offloading vessels (FPSOs), BW Cidade de São Vicente will be recycled in compliance with the Hong Kong International Convention.

The BW Cidade de São Vicente vessel was sold for $12.8 million in cash.

The shipyard of Priya Blue Industries is certified to ISO standards. It has been issued with a Statement of Compliance by Class NK in compliance with the IMO Resolution MEPC.210(63) and the Hong Kong International Convention for recycling of ships in a safe and environmentally sound manner.

BW Offshore said that it has chosen a third party to be on site at the recycling yard for ensuring that health, safety, and environmental regulations are followed.

The Norwegian FPSO operator revealed that the ship recycling plan of BW Cidade de São Vicente has been readied and provided by the shipyard of Priya Blue Industries in cooperation with the Gujarat Maritime Board.

BW Offshore said that it will pay a “safe recycling” bonus to Priya Blue Industries after the completion of the recycling of FPSO BW Cidade de São Vicente for further incentivizing safe operations.
