Bureau Veritas acquires Canadian food auditing business of Orion Assessment Services
Bureau Veritas, a French testing, inspection, and certification company, has acquired Orion Assessment Services International‘s Canadian food auditing business for an undisclosed price.
Orion caters to food manufacturers in Canada with food certification services.
For Orion’s food safety customers, the acquisition will provide access to the larger suite of Bureau Veritas GFSI accredited and unaccredited services.
Mark Curtis – CEO of Orion said: “Bureau Veritas has been the perfect partner for this important transition for our clients. We strongly believe Bureau Veritas’ focus on food safety, commitment to client service and global reach will be of tremendous value to our customers now and in the future.”
On the other hand, the Orion food safety business acquisition will create a platform for Bureau Veritas to expand the latter’s food certification footprint in Canada.
The geographic expansion of Bureau Veritas’ food certification business in Canada will also boost its capabilities in market food laboratory testing in the country.
Waylon Sharp – Bureau Veritas VP/COO – Food & Agri North America said: “We are excited to have the opportunity to work with the Orion team to ensure continued delivery of a gold-standard service to Orion’s outstanding food safety clients. Orion’s focus on a customer-centric approach to food certification has helped to build a successful business and made it easy for us to find common ground. This strategic acquisition confirms our commitment to being a full-service food safety service provider in Canada and throughout North America.”
