BrightNight, Cordelio Power launch Box Canyon Solar Project in Pinal County

In a significant step towards Arizona’s clean energy transformation, BrightNight, a next-generation global renewable power producer, in partnership with Cordelio Power and Southwest Public Power Agency (SPPA), Inc., announced the groundbreaking of the Box Canyon Solar Project. Located in Pinal County, near the Town of Florence, this 300-megawatt project marks the largest renewable energy procurement in SPPA’s history.

Impact and Benefits of the Box Canyon Solar Project

The Box Canyon Solar Project is set to generate enough electricity to power 77,000 homes and businesses annually, offsetting around 600 metric tons of CO2 emissions every hour. Designed to maximize performance and value, the project uses BrightNight’s AI-based platform for optimal results. Economically, the project will bring significant benefits to Pinal County, generating $47M in impact during construction and creating 300 American jobs. Post-construction, the project is expected to contribute an additional $134 million in local economic benefits.

A highlight of the groundbreaking was the announcement of education scholarships for technical degrees. BrightNight CEO Martin Hermann revealed plans to fund 50 students through Central Arizona College’s electrician program, applauding the college’s local leadership and emphasizing BrightNight’s commitment to community support.
