BP delivers ‎first carbon offset LNG cargo in Asia-Pacific region

BP Singapore, a subsidiary of energy giant BP, has completed the delivery of its ‎first carbon offset liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo to CPC Corporation, Taiwan ‎to the Yung An terminal in Taiwan.

According to BP, this is its maiden delivery of carbon offset LNG in the Asia-Pacific region. It follows the company’s ‎first delivery globally in ‎July 2021 to Sempra LNG at the Energia Costa Azul terminal in Mexico.

BP said that the emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) associated with the LNG cargo, ‎from wellhead to discharge terminal for the specific source and voyage, were ‎estimated using the company’s GHG quantification methodology for LNG.

The company said that it plans to continue supporting the rapidly ‎growing demand around the world for LNG by diversifying its offer, which will include developing bundled carbon offset LNG ‎products to address the demands of customers.
