Boomi transforms financial operations for Catholic Development Fund with advanced automation
Boomi, recognized as a leader in intelligent integration and automation, has revolutionized the corporate card reconciliation process for the Catholic Development Fund (CDF). Established in 1956, CDF has long supported a variety of Catholic entities, including schools, parishes, and social service providers, by offering tailored financial solutions. This latest automation effort with Boomi significantly reduces complexity and accelerates value delivery, exemplifying a major stride in financial technology for religious organizations.
CDF, known for its customized financial offerings, has found a partner in Boomi to further streamline its operations, particularly evident in their recent project with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS). MACS, responsible for overseeing 293 Catholic schools in Victoria, faced significant challenges with an outdated corporate card reconciliation process that was not only cumbersome but also time-consuming, taking up to 90 days for simple transaction reconciliations.
Jukka Rinta, Executive Manager of Product at Catholic Development Fund, emphasized the uniqueness of each customer’s needs. “We can’t rely on cookie-cutter solutions,” Rinta stated. With Boomi’s integration platform as a service (iPaaS), Catholic Development Fund introduced a solution tailored to MACS that simplified and unified the financial operations across all schools.
In collaboration with Australian advisory and IT solutions provider Atturra, Boomi’s iPaaS was pivotal in connecting key systems such as CDF’s banking system, expense management tools, AWS Secure File Transfer Service, and SharePoint. This integration enabled automated cross-checks of financial data across the various ERP systems used by the 293 schools, significantly speeding up the reconciliation process.
According to Rinta, within just three months of implementation, the results were clear: “Up to 80% of transactions are now reconciled against the ledger within the same month,” he noted, highlighting the drastic reduction in administrative burden and improved governance.
The scalability of Boomi’s solutions not only improves current processes but also facilitates easier onboarding of new schools. Jason Frost, Executive General Manager of Data and Integration at Atturra, remarked on the complexity of managing finances across multiple environments and how Boomi’s technology has enhanced efficiency for CDF’s customers.
David Irecki, Chief Technology Officer for APJ at Boomi, further commented on the impact of these advancements. “By prioritizing its customers, Catholic Development Fund has significantly enhanced its technological capabilities, reducing hundreds of hours in manual bookkeeping and allowing schools to redirect efforts towards student education,” said Irecki.
As Catholic Development Fund continues to evaluate the Boomi-connected processes for broader customer needs, this initiative stands as a testament to how targeted technological solutions can profoundly impact operational efficiencies.
The integration of Boomi’s iPaaS into CDF’s financial operations is a prime example of how tailored technological solutions can transform complex financial processes into streamlined, efficient systems that support organizational goals. This case highlights the potential for other organizations to leverage similar technologies to enhance their operational capabilities.
