Birla Corporation to ramp up cement production capacity to 30mt by 2027

Birla Corporation Limited, the flagship company of the MP Birla Group, has set a target of ramping up its annual cement production capacity to 30 million tons (mt) by 2027.

The announcement was made by Harsh V Lodha, the chairman of the MP Birla Group during the company’s annual general meeting.

MP Birla Group said that this is a new target as it had previously aimed at increasing its production capacity to 25 mt by 2025.

Currently, Birla Corporation has a production capacity of 15.6 mt, which will increase up to nearly 20 mt by the end of the current fiscal year after a greenfield 3.9 mt cement manufacturing plant at Mukutban, near Nagpur is commissioned.

Harsh V Lodha revealed that the Indian cement manufacturing company will expand in markets where it has an edge over competitors and demand for cement is forecast to get stronger.

The MP Birla Group chairman added that compared with the legacy assets of the company, the new cement manufacturing plants will be more efficient and profitable.
