BharatPe partners with Ingenico to drive adoption of POS devices in India

Indian fintech company BharatPe has entered into a five-year partnership with Ingenico, a Worldline brand, that is aimed at driving the adoption of point of sales (POS) devices in India.

Over the next 12 months, Ingenico will be rolling out 100,000 of its Axium line of Android Smart POS and Payments Platform as a Service (PPaaS) to the merchant network of BharatPe in India.

Shashvat Nakrani — Co-Founder of BharatPe said: “With this strategic partnership with Ingenico, we will be able to add a new dimension to our range of Fintech offerings for offline merchants. The new Axium POS machines coupled with PPaaS will enable us to offer world-class payment and commerce services to our merchant partners and further empower them to grow their business.

“We will continue to explore strategic partnerships with renowned players across industries so as to offer best-in-class Fintech products and services to our millions of merchant partners.”

According to Ingenico, the combination of the Android-based Axium DX8000 terminals and PPaaS brings a technology stack to BharatPe which is designed to address the requirements of a quick-growing and evolving market.

PPaaS, which is a set of payment and commerce services, combines solutions for the management of terminals with alternative payment methods and third-party applications.

Ingenico said that the partnership with BharatPe provides in an opportunity to strengthen its footprint in the Indian market. Besides, the partnership allows the French payment service provider company position itself as an ecosystem enabler to empower commerce throughout all channels, streamlining payments, and delivering innovative customer journeys.
