BFG expands Midwest presence with acquisition of VG Supply

BFG, a prominent distributor in the horticulture and outdoor living market, has announced the acquisition of VG Supply, a key player in distributing lawn and garden supplies in the upper Midwest. This strategic move strengthens BFG’s foothold in the Midwest and is aimed at enhancing its relationships within critical customer segments.

Ken Kotas, President of VG Supply, commented on the acquisition: “We were looking for a partner that shared our values, our commitment to great customer service, and could bring something new to our customers. We’ve known the BFG team for many years and we’re excited to now be part of the BFG family.” The distribution operations will continue from VG’s established center in Munster, Indiana, ensuring a seamless transition for customers.

Jeff King, CEO of BFG, expressed his enthusiasm about the integration: “Ken and his team have built a great business, and we’re thrilled that we could make this transition happen so that we can grow together.” Alongside this acquisition, BFG has unveiled a refreshed company branding, including a modernized logo and the new tagline “Come Grow with Us.” King explained, “As one of the largest and fastest-growing distributors in the horticulture and outdoor living space, we felt that our external branding needed a more modern look and feel. Our new tagline, ‘Come Grow with Us,’ extends a warm invitation to the supplier community, lawn and garden retailers, professional growers, and hydroponic supply sellers to partner with BFG.”

Additionally, BFG announced the appointment of new sales leaders for its three strategic customer segments. Doug Speegle, a seasoned industry veteran from L&L, will head the Independent Lawn & Garden segment. Jackie Giuntoli, also from L&L and known for her deep industry knowledge, will take charge of the Key Account segment. Ben George, a founder of Greenhouse Megastore and recognized industry figure, will lead the Grower/CEA/Hydro/Structures segment. “I’m excited to have Doug, Jackie, and Ben leading BFG’s sales organization. Each of them knows the industry and how to drive growth by building great teams who sell great products and programs to great customers,” added King.
