Best Buy Health, a subsidiary of US specialty electronics retailer Best Buy, has launched the Lively Smart smartphone for making it simple and easy for senior citizens to access the phone features most useful to them.
The new smartphone also provides one-touch access to Lively Health and Safety Services.
The Lively Smart smartphone from Best Buy Health features a 6.2-inch screen. Designed for ease of use from the moment it is switched on, the smartphone for older citizens is said to help them stay connected to their loved ones.
The home screen of the new smartphone from Best Buy has large and legible text. It is said to organize the main features into a single list, which includes enabling the user to get help in urgent and non-urgent situations, start video chat, capture photos, and also get directions.
Based on what health and safety package the users have signed up for, they are eligible for some of the Lively Health and Safety Services such as urgent response, urgent care, and Lively Link.
Urgent Response gives a connection to highly trained agents for helping in emergencies round-the-clock at the push of a button.
Urgent Care enables the user to talk to either a registered nurse or board-certified doctor, without an appointment round-the-clock. There is no insurance plan or co-pay required for availing these, said Best Buy.
Lively Link is an app designed to help friends and family stay informed of the health and safety of their loved ones. Alerts will be sent to their smartphones if their loved one contacts urgent response and can also get updates regarding their location, battery life of their devices, and daily activity.
The Lively Smart smartphone can be bought for a price of $149.99 plus a monthly service.
David Inns – Best Buy Health president of active aging said: “Lively Smart expands our lineup of innovative phones and personal emergency response systems (PERS) that are tailored to the active aging population—a key demographic for Best Buy Health.
“With Lively Smart, we’re continuing to innovate and create products that meet the needs of our customers and help them live independently at home.”
