Indian solar industry news : Indian solar energy company Azure Power has commissioned a 100MW Telangana solar power project in the southern Indian state of Telangana under the National Solar Mission Phase-II, Batch-II Tranche-I of the central government.
The new Azure Power solar plant in Telangana is spread across an area of around 500 acres in the districts of Nagar Kurnool and Ranga Reddy, reported The Hindu.
Azure Power, which is an independent solar power producer, had won the solar project in Telangana through an auction held by state-controlled NTPC.
Under a 25-year power purchasing agreement, the Azure Power solar plant will sell the electricity it generates to NTPC at a rate of INR4.67 ($0.07) per kWh.
Commenting on the newly commissioned Telangana solar power project, Inderpreet Wadhwa – Founder, Chairman and CEO of Azure Power, said: “Telangana’s continued reliance and faith in solar energy has successfully transformed it into one of the largest solar power producing states in the country.
“We are delighted to make a contribution towards the realization of our Hon’ble Prime Minister’s commitment towards clean and green energy, through solar power generation. Our sincere gratitude to NTPC and the state of Telangana for all the cooperation and support extended.”
Last week, Azure Power won the rights to develop a 200MW solar power plant in Rajasthan. This Rajasthan solar power project was bagged in an auction held by the Indian government’s solar energy regulator – Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).
The Indian solar energy company will supply the power generated from the Rajasthan solar power plant to SECI at a rate of INR2.48 ($ 0.04) per kWh. The Azure solar plant in Rajasthan will be built within the Bhadla Solar Park and is aimed to be commissioned in 2019 as per the latest Indian solar industry news.
