Atlantic Projects wins contract for 660MW power plant in Northern Ireland

Atlantic Projects Company, a fully-owned subsidiary of Argan, Inc., has been awarded an engineering and construction services contract from EPUKI London, UK, to construct a 660MW natural gas-fired power plant in Northern Ireland.

Developed by EPNI Energy Limited, the gas-fired power plant will have two units of 330MW capacity each. It will be built in Carrickfergus, Belfast.

Its power trains will utilize SGT5-4000F gas turbines to be supplied by Siemens Energy.

Billy Nolan — Managing Director of Atlantic Projects Company said: “This is a major investment by EPUKI which will create a significant new electricity generation asset for the island of Ireland. We are delighted to have been chosen by EPUKI to provide engineering and construction services for this strategic project and we look forward to its successful delivery.”

Atlantic Projects Company stated that the project is its largest to date since Argan acquired it in 2015. Argan expects to add the gas-fired power plant in Northern Ireland to backlog with immediate effect.

The power plant has received a green signal to proceed with certain project activities having begun already. It is expected to be completed in the latter half of 2023.
