This collaboration is centered around the deployment of HPE Asset Upcycling Services across various Astellas locations, beginning with Canada. The deal between HPE and Astellas Pharma Inc. leverages HPE’s Asset Upcycling Services to collect and process end-of-use network equipment, aiding Astellas’ network standardization project. This service not only underscores the companies’ dedication to modernizing IT infrastructure but also highlights their commitment to reducing environmental impact. The first collection of networking assets in Canada marks the inception of this venture, with plans to extend the service to Astellas’ headquarters in Japan, targeting the decommissioning and secure refurbishment of hundreds of technology assets annually.

The service is lauded for its consistent quality in securely processing and refurbishing a wide array of end-of-use hardware, including network assets, storage, servers, and various workplace devices. Yasunori Yakabe, Astellas’ Director and Head of Cloud Products and Platforms, emphasized the dual focus on IT modernization and environmental impact mitigation, highlighting the role of HPE Asset Upcycling Services in achieving these objectives.

Furthermore, Astellas has integrated HPE Aruba Networking solutions to enhance its backbone network infrastructure. This move is pivotal for supporting the company’s expansive operations, which span research, development, and manufacturing of innovative medicines. HPE Aruba Networking Central will provide Astellas with advanced capabilities, including AI-powered analytics, automation, and enhanced security features, facilitating centralized management and improved IT productivity.

Hirokazu Mochizuki, Senior Vice President and Managing Director for HPE Japan, expressed honor in supporting Astellas’ sustainability and networking enhancement goals.
