Ashok Leyland bags order for 552 ultra-low entry buses from TNSTC
Ashok Leyland, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer under the umbrella of the Hinduja Group in India, has announced a significant order from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC). This order comprises 552 Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) Diesel Non-AC buses, marking a groundbreaking collaboration in the state’s commitment to “Mobility for All”.
Long-Standing Partnership Strengthens
Ashok Leyland has been TNSTC’s most preferred brand, with over 18,477 Ashok Leyland buses currently operational in its fleet. The new ULE buses come equipped with state-of-the-art features like a powerful H-series 6-cylinder 4-valve 184 kW (246 hp) engine, step-less entry, and rear engine configuration. They also feature automatic transmission, front disc brake, electronically controlled front and rear air suspension, and an Intelligent Transportation System complete with CCTV, destination boards, vehicle location, and tracking capabilities.
Commitment to Public Mobility and Safety
Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO of Ashok Leyland, expressed his honor in partnering with TNSTC to realize the ‘Mobility for All’ initiative. He emphasized that Ashok Leyland’s deep market and customer understanding has been instrumental in securing this order. Project Funded by German Development Bank
This significant project is funded by the German Development Bank (KfW). Ashok Leyland plans to commence the delivery of these buses from April 2024, affirming its dedication to sustainable and inclusive mobility solutions.
