Ascend Performance Materials to build hexamethylene diamine plant in China
Ascend Performance Materials said that it has inked an investment agreement to build a new hexamethylene diamine (HMD) and specialty chemicals plant in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, China.
The new plant to be located in the Xuwei New Area Park will be the first chemical production facility for the American high-performance materials producer. Besides, it is the largest investment made by Ascend Performance Materials outside of the US.
According to Ascend Performance Materials, the Chinese HMD and specialty chemicals plant will supply the company’s global polyamide production and cater to its regional customers.

“The materials we produce are helping drive technological transformations across markets, from e-mobility to automation. Our new HMD plant positions us to continue supporting these transformations well into the future.”
Ascend Performance Materials is a producer of durable engineered materials which serves a range of sectors including automotive, electrical and electronics, paints and coatings, cable ties and fasteners, and consumer goods.
The US firm will start construction on the HMD and specialty chemicals plant in China later this year with the commissioning targeted for H2 2023.
