Broad daylight robbery in Paris! Glamorous Piaget store loses millions
In a dazzling daylight heist that has left Parisians astonished, an armed gang brazenly stormed the luxurious Piaget store in central Paris, making off with an eye-watering stash of jewellery and watches worth between $11 million and $16.5 million. The robbery, carried out on Tuesday by “two men in suits and a woman in a dress,” was meticulously executed with a chilling blend of precision and audacity.
At 1:00 pm local time, the heart of the French capital, Rue de la Paix, was rocked by the shocking spectacle as the alleged criminals held staff members at gunpoint and terrified customers were forced to the ground. As reported by the Daily Mail, the thieves commanded the staff to direct them to the most valuable displays, greedily snatching the high-end goods before escaping on motorbikes.
A police source, cited by AFP, confirmed that no one was hurt in the audacious crime. The Paris prosecutor’s office has already launched an investigation into the incident, branding charges of “armed robbery by an organizing gang” and “kidnapping.” Images from the scene depict the renowned store, located near the iconic Place Vendome, surrounded by police.
This is hardly the first time that the upscale Paris neighborhood has been targeted by thieves. Earlier this year, in April, three individuals on motorbikes made away with millions of dollars’ worth of jewellery from the nearby Bulgari outlet.
The latest robbery only adds to the growing intrigue and concern surrounding Paris’s high-end shopping district. With the criminals still at large, the city is left to ponder: Who were these thieves? How did they pull off such an audacious crime in broad daylight? And most importantly, will they strike again?
