Arcis Golf, celebrated as the U.S.’s second largest and rapidly expanding owner-operator of golf facilities, today finalized its acquisition of the iconic Champions Retreat Golf Club near Augusta, Georgia. This acquisition, effective from October 13, further bolsters Arcis Golf’s national footprint.
Situated a mere 15 miles from Augusta, Champions Retreat is a 27-hole private club boasting designs by golf legends – Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player. This trio, often referred to as the “Big Three”, has individually crafted signature holes making Champions Retreat the sole global property reflecting their combined genius.
Blake Walker, Arcis Golf’s Founder and CEO, highlighted the acquisition’s strategic alignment, saying, “Champions Retreat complements our collection of top-tier golf facilities. It reflects our dedication to the game and transformative experiences. We aim to continually offer standout golf and content catering to all family members.”
Champions Retreat isn’t just about golf; it’s a holistic lifestyle destination. Members and guests can indulge in luxurious accommodations ranging from four-to-eight-bedroom cottages, all equipped with chef-inspired kitchens. Add to this, a Southern culinary delight at the Grille House and panoramic views from Bluff Overlook, and you have a perfect retreat.
The property doesn’t just pay tribute to golf’s past, but it’s also pivotal for its future. Annually, in late March to early April, Champions Retreat hosts the initial two rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. This tradition has been consistent since its inception in 2019, with the finale taking place at Augusta National Golf Club.
This latest acquisition, Arcis Golf’s debut in Georgia, propels the company’s presence across 14 U.S. states. Significantly, the Champions Retreat’s Bluff/Island course proudly holds the #10 spot in Georgia on Golf Digest’s recent “Best in State Courses” list.
Reflecting on the journey, Bill Forrest, the former owner of Champions Retreat, expressed, “Witnessing Champions Retreat’s ascent to its current esteemed position has been an honor. I’m confident in Arcis Golf’s capability to ensure global enthusiasts continue cherishing this exceptional golf experience.”
In less than two years, Arcis Golf has impressively marked its 14th club acquisition, adding to its expanding portfolio that includes the Pacific Life trio of courses and Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, among others. Arcis Golf now proudly boasts a portfolio nearing 70 clubs.
Since its 2014 inception, Arcis Golf has consistently displayed its commitment to enhancing the golf experience, evident through its investments exceeding $100 million. This dedication spans across upgrades, personnel training, and other facets, ensuring an unparalleled golf and club lifestyle at their diverse properties.
