Anantnag encounter : Three Indian security officers, including Colonel, martyred
In a tragic incident that unfolded on September 13 in Anantnag district, three Indian security officials lost their lives during an encounter with terrorists. Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish, and Jammu and Kashmir Police Deputy Superintendent Humayun Bhat were killed, according to official reports.
Loss of Brave Officers in Anantnag Encounter
Colonel Singh was reportedly leading the operation when he came under fire, sustaining fatal injuries. “I pay glorious tributes to brave hearts Col Manpreet Singh, Maj Aashish Dhonchak, and DSP Humanyu, son of DIG Ghulam Hassan Bhat of Tral, for laying down their lives for the country,” said Altaf Thakur, BJP JK spokesperson.
Situation on Ground: Operations Continue
The security forces are still actively engaged in the operation, and reports suggest that the terrorists are holed up in the area. Top Army and police officials, including GoC 15 Corps Lt General Rajiv Ghai and DGP Dilbag Singh, arrived at the scene to evaluate the situation.

The operation, which began on Tuesday evening, was briefly called off during the night and resumed on Wednesday morning after new information about the terrorists was received. The banned Resistance Front, a shadow group of the Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the encounter.

Officials believe the same group of terrorists was behind an earlier attack on August 4 that claimed the lives of three army jawans. The encounter adds to the ongoing challenges faced by Indian security forces in the volatile region of Kashmir.
