Ambuja Cements said that it has started commercial production of clinker and cement at its INR 2,350 crores Marwar Greenfield Plant in Nagaur district, Rajasthan.
The Indian cement company, which is a member of Switzerland-based The Holcim Group, has increased its clinker capacity by 3MTPA with the commissioning of the greenfield integrated plant, which operates as Marwar Cement Works. The new plant also boosts the company’s cement sales by 5MTPA to contribute to its long term strategy of capacity expansion.
Ambuja Cements said that the trial runs at the Marwar cement plant were inaugurated virtually by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in late August.
The clinker and cement plant in Nagaur is said to be equipped with modern equipment and technology for producing cement in a more environment friendly manner. Besides, it has a waste heat recovery system (WHRS) for converting waste heat derived during the production process into energy.
Marwar Cement Works is Holcim Group’s third plant in Rajasthan after Rabariwas and Lakheri.
Neeraj Akhoury — MD and CEO of Ambuja Cements said: “We are happy to announce the commencement of commercial production at Marwar plant. Ambuja has ambitious growth plans to expand its capacities in India, and the Marwar plant is a step in that direction. We are very proud that it is a ‘green plant’ designed to meet our ambition for a sustainable future.”
