Amazon job openings : E-commerce giant to hire 300 tech jobs in San Diego
Amazon job openings : E-commerce giant Amazon is all set to consolidate its presence in San Diego, California by hiring 300 new technology jobs at a newly opened 85,000 square feet office at Alexandria Real Estate Equities’ revamped Campus Pointe office park in University City.
The new Amazon job openings will be in the fields of software development, machine learning, digital entertainment and cloud computing.
Amazon will be more than doubling its tech workforce in the San Diego area upon completion of the job hiring process.
Commenting on the Amazon job openings in San Diego, Nate Wiger – General Manager of Amazon’s new San Diego office, said: “Amazon is excited to create more tech jobs in San Diego – a city with terrific talent and a culture of innovation.
“We look forward to more than doubling our investment in the area, and hiring local talent to fill exciting roles across Amazon. Thank you to all our partners across the city and the state for helping us create these new jobs, and contributing to the already vibrant innovation economy in San Diego.”
Amazon has a total of 17 technology hubs outside of its headquarters in Seattle. Each of the Amazon tech hubs including the Amazon San Diego Tech Hub is responsible to invent and build new products and services for its customers.
San Diego Mayor Kevin Lee Faulconer, commenting on the Amazon job openings in San Diego, said: “San Diego is a place where ideas take shape and innovation happens. Our entrepreneurial spirit, innovative culture and top-ranking universities make our city the perfect location for Amazon’s newest tech hub,” said Mayor Faulconer.
“This new facility is an investment in San Diego’s growing innovation economy, our talented workforce and the relationship we have with one of the world’s leading companies, and I can’t wait to see what exciting new technologies Amazon will be developing right here in America’s Finest City.”
The Amazon San Diego Tech Hub will be developing software systems for Prime Now, Amazon Fresh, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), and also for preventing fraud and abuse across the e-commerce network.
Recently, the Amazon San Diego Tech Hub played a vital role in the introduction of the Whole Foods Market pickup and delivery service through Prime Now. The Amazon tech hub in San Diego had also worked on Alexa features for grocery shopping and data-based and machine innovations for providing further protection of Amazon customers.
Amazon said it has created 39,000 plus full-time roles in California and invested more than $19 billion in the US state since 2011. The e-commerce giant boasts of over 17,500 corporate and tech employees in North America outside of Seattle.
