Alfa Laval has agreed to acquire Scandinavian software company BunkerMetric, which caters to marine bunker vessels with its advanced decision support tools.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by Alfa Laval, a Swedish company, which is involved in heat transfer, separation, and fluid handling.
Alfa Laval acquisition of BunkerMetric is said to be part of the former’s plans to grow its offering in digital marine services.
BunkerMetric will become part of Alfa Laval’s recently acquired StormGeo, a provider of weather intelligence software and decision support services.
Headquartered in Denmark, BunkerMetric helps ship operators in finding the best procurement plan for bunkers and enhancing voyage margins with the help of sophisticated algorithms.
BunkerMetric’s optimization tools alongside the advanced route services of StormGeo will enable ship owners in streamlining operations to help them boost their bottom line, said Alfa Laval.
According to Alfa Laval, the procurement optimization tool of BunkerMetric will become a subscription service within the existing offering of StormGeo.
Sameer Kalra — Alfa Laval Marine Division President, commenting on Alfa Laval acquisition of BunkerMetric, said: “BunkerMetric will be a valuable complement to our expanding portfolio of solutions built upon advanced digital technologies.
“This acquisition will strengthen our ability to support our customers in voyage routing and operational decision making, thereby helping them improve their vessels’ operational costs.”
The closing of Alfa Laval acquisition of BunkerMetric is likely to occur in Q3 2022.
