Airtel Business, the B2B arm of Bharti Airtel, a leading telecommunications service provider in India, today announced a major collaboration with Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL). This partnership will see Airtel powering over 20 million smart meters across various Indian states, representing a significant advancement in the nation’s smart metering program.
Leveraging Airtel’s Nationwide Network for Smart Meter Deployment
Airtel Business will utilize its expansive and robust nationwide communications network to deliver reliable and secure connectivity for AESL’s smart meter deployments. This collaboration will involve Airtel’s advanced smart metering solutions, which are powered by NB-IoT, 4G, and 2G technologies. These solutions are essential for ensuring real-time connectivity and uninterrupted data transfer between smart meters and headend applications.
Airtel’s IoT Platform: Enhancing Energy Management
The initiative will also incorporate Airtel’s IoT platform – ‘Airtel IoT Hub.’ This platform enables sophisticated tracking and monitoring of smart meters, providing advanced analytics and diagnostic capabilities. Customers will benefit from real-time insights and services, gaining enhanced control over their energy consumption. AESL currently has an extensive order book of over 20 million smart meters from power utilities in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand.
