AG&P Pratham opens natural gas mother station in Ramanathapuram, TN

AG&P Pratham, a subsidiary of Singapore-based downstream LNG and gas logistics company AG&P Group, has opened a natural gas mother station in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu.

The new natural gas mother station, which is branded under AG&P Pratham, is located at the Valantharavi village. It will directly get natural gas from the nearby gas treatment facility of GAIL and will be distributed to CNG stations across the district by commercial trucks.

According to AG&P, the virtual pipeline will enable the public to get immediate access to natural gas.

The AG&P Pratham natural gas mother station will serve the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) declared six districts out of the 12 districts in Tamil Nadu, which include Kanchipuram, Ranipet, Changalpattu, Vellore, and Tirupathur.

Operating round-the-clock, the natural gas mother station will have a line booster compressor of capacity 1500 SCMH and a CNG compressor of capacity 1200 SCMH.

AG&P said that it is also closely working with its partner firms – HPCL, IOCL, BPCL, and OEMs, retrofitters, and others to ensure reliable supply of gas to the six districts.

Initially, the Ramanathapuram mother station will supply compressed natural gas (CNG) to CNG stations.

“Our Mother Station will power AG&P Pratham’s City Gas Distribution network, as well as supply gas to other CGD gas infrastructure companies to meet the growing demand for cleaner energy in the state.”
