Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility and MG Motor India forge partnership to boost EV charging infrastructure
In a significant move to enhance the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in India, Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL), a subsidiary of Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL), and MG Motor India have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to develop advanced charging solutions and value-added services for EV customers nationwide, underscoring the rapid evolution of India’s EV landscape and the push towards a robust charging infrastructure.
As part of the MoU, ATEL will deploy CC2 60 kW DC chargers at upcoming MG dealerships to improve the charging network and customer accessibility. This initiative is designed to provide a comprehensive solution that includes supply, installation, commissioning, operations, and maintenance of the charging stations. Furthermore, the partnership plans to launch a digital platform to offer a seamless customer experience, facilitating easy access to charging services including discovery, user authentication, charging processes, and billing settlement via a dedicated mobile application.
Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer at MG Motor India, commented on the partnership, stating, “MG is committed to Carbon Neutrality, Sustainability, and Green Mobility. We are delighted to embark on a new journey with Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited, which will catalyze the adoption of electric vehicles in India. This strategic partnership reflects our commitment to sustainable mobility and our vision to revolutionize the EV landscape by building a robust charging infrastructure. The combined synergies aim to empower Indian consumers to embrace electric mobility.”
Echoing this sentiment, Suresh P Mangalani, ED & CEO of ATGL, highlighted the global shift towards sustainable and clean energy sources, with electric vehicles leading the transition. “Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited’s and MG Motor India’s partnership to develop charging infrastructure marks a significant milestone and will play a crucial role in accelerating India’s energy transition. This effort will contribute towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner and greener environment,” said Mangalani.
This strategic partnership also explores the integration of public charging stations across platforms using advanced application programming interfaces (APIs), enhancing network visibility and accessibility. This initiative is expected to offer increased accessibility to the PCS Network and a seamless experience for users.
Additionally, the collaboration will improve customer experience with RFID solutions accessible to MG users at strategic locations within ATEL’s public charging network, including airports. MG users will benefit from preferential discount offerings through RFID cards provided by ATEL under bulk purchase arrangements.
MG Motor India, as an early mover in the EV space, has focused on developing its product offerings and establishing a robust EV charging infrastructure. This includes a 6-way charging infrastructure to make the use of electric vehicles more convenient and accessible for consumers.
This partnership between Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited and MG Motor India is a game-changer for India’s EV market. It not only underscores the commitment of both companies to sustainable mobility but also sets a benchmark for the development of EV charging infrastructure in the country. By addressing one of the key hurdles to EV adoption—charging infrastructure—this collaboration is poised to significantly accelerate the shift towards electric vehicles, aligning with India’s environmental goals and reducing the carbon footprint.
