Adani Ports assures safety of Haifa Port operations amidst regional concerns
In response to ongoing developments in South Israel, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ) has issued a reassuring statement regarding the safety and operations of Haifa Port in the North of Israel. The Adani Group company expressed its continued solidarity with the people of Israel while emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding its employees and maintaining business continuity.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited has closely monitored the situation on the ground and confirmed that the actions are primarily concentrated in South Israel, whereas Haifa Port, a critical part of its operations, is situated in the North. The company has implemented stringent safety measures to ensure the well-being of its employees, affirming that all staff members are safe and secure. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited remains vigilant and fully prepared, armed with a robust business continuity plan that stands ready to respond effectively to any unforeseen circumstances.
In terms of its contribution to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited’s overall operations, Haifa Port represents a relatively small fraction, accounting for approximately 3% of the total cargo volume. For the current financial year (April 2023 to March 2024), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited has provided cargo volume guidance, projecting a range of 10-12 million metric tonnes (MMT) for Haifa. This is part of the larger cargo volume guidance for Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, estimated at 370-390 MMT. In the initial six months (April to September 2023), APSEZ handled a total cargo volume of approximately 203 MMT, with Haifa Port contributing around 6 MMT to this figure.
Despite the regional challenges, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited remains confident in its ability to deliver strong business performance and ensure the uninterrupted operation of Haifa Port.
