Adani Group powers up Bangladesh with Godda power plant in Jharkhand

Adani Power has announced the commencement of commercial operations for Unit 2 of its 2x800MW Ultra-supercritical power project, based in Godda District, Jharkhand.

The unit began operations at midnight on 25th June 2023, after successfully completing Reliability Run Tests.

Managed by Adani Power (Jharkhand) Limited (APJL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Power Limited, the entire power generated from the project will be exported to Bangladesh. The power export will be conducted through dedicated 400kV transmission lines, offering a net capacity of 1.5GW.

The commencement of export operations is set to begin from 26th June 2023.

The Godda Ultra-supercritical thermal power plant (USTCPP) has been constructed despite significant challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project, boasting the first-of-its-kind ultra-supercritical technology in India, includes Flue Gas Desulphuriser (FGD) and Selective Catalytic Reconverter (SCR) equipment for minimizing emissions. These technologies align with the futuristic norms set by the Ministry of Environment and Forests and Climate Change (MOEF&CC).

The successful commissioning of this power plant represents a landmark achievement for Adani Group, marking the beginning of cross-border electricity export to the neighboring country.
