Adani Green Energy boosts renewable portfolio with new solar plant in Rajasthan
Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), recognized as India‘s most expansive and a global leader in the renewable energy sector, has made a significant stride with the commissioning of a 180 MW solar power plant in Devikot, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. This strategic development not only consolidates AGEL’s position in the renewable energy market but also supports India’s energy security and low-carbon transition goals.
The new solar facility, underpinned by a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), is set to generate approximately 540 million electricity units annually. This output is sufficient to power over 110,000 homes while offsetting about 390,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Such performance underscores AGEL’s commitment to enhancing India’s renewable energy capacity and contributing to global sustainability efforts.
Incorporating next-generation bifacial solar PV modules and horizontal single axis solar trackers (HSAT), the plant aims for optimal efficiency by maximizing sun exposure throughout the day. This innovative approach ensures higher energy generation compared to traditional solar power setups. Additionally, the plant boasts a waterless robotic module cleaning system, a crucial feature for water conservation in Jaisalmer’s arid landscape. AGEL’s adoption of the Energy Network Operation Centre (ENOC), based on a secure digital cloud platform, enables real-time monitoring and management of its renewable assets, further improving operational efficiency.
The commissioning of the Devikot solar power plant marks a significant milestone in AGEL’s operational journey, expanding its operational solar portfolio to 6,243 MW and its total operational renewable capacity to 9,784 MW. This achievement cements AGEL’s status as the largest renewable energy operator in India, playing a crucial role in the nation’s pursuit of a sustainable and secure energy future.
