ACCIONA wins contract for Norte III prison in San Sebastián, Spain

Sociedad de Infraestructuras y Equipamientos Penitenciarios y de la Seguridad del Estado (), a Spanish state prison infrastructure company, has given a contract to a joint venture led by for the construction of ‘s new prison – Norte III.

The Norte III project is worth €41.35 million and has a delivery period of 22 months.

The prison is located southwest of the San Sebastián municipality.

It is located on the “Loma de Ezkuzaitzeta”, near the N-I highway on the eastern boundary of the Zubieta neighborhood, close to the Oria river, nearly 8km from the town center.

According to ACCIONA, the new Norte III prison, which will have the highest sustainability standards, will also have a social integration center.

Construction of the prison will be based on energy efficiency criteria with over 50% of its energy coming from renewable sources. Additionally, the Norte III prison will have a system for reusing rainwater.
