Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has announced its acquisition of Fibermind, an Italy-based network services company renowned for its expertise in fiber and mobile 5G networks deployment and infrastructure engineering. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering Accenture’s capabilities within the network services domain and expanding its reach across various industries including telecommunications, utilities, and transportation.
Headquartered in Rovigo, Italy, Fibermind brings over two decades of experience in serving both the public and private sectors, with a solid track record and deep relationships with national authorities, municipalities, and major network operators in Italy. Mauro Macchi, president and CEO of Accenture in Italy, emphasized the acquisition’s strategic importance, stating, “The acquisition of Fibermind reaffirms Accenture’s commitment to continuously invest in strategic acquisitions that support and accelerate our clients’ transformations across key industry sectors in Italy.”
With the integration of Fibermind, Accenture will inherit a team of over 400 highly skilled professionals, enhancing its offerings in network design, permits management, project management, network acceptance testing, and more. Roberto Pagella, who leads Accenture Operations in Italy, highlighted the growth potential, “This acquisition will significantly strengthen our expertise in the telecommunications network engineering services, boosting our growth in a strategic sector for the country.”
Andrea Targa, general manager at Fibermind, expressed enthusiasm about the growth opportunities presented by joining forces with Accenture, “We welcome the opportunity to grow by joining Accenture and become part of its global network.” He noted the alignment in commitment to client service and innovation between the two companies.
The acquisition is part of Accenture’s broader strategy to enhance its infrastructure engineering capabilities across Europe, especially in the areas of 5G and fiber networks, complementing previous acquisitions such as Arca, AFD.TECH, and umlaut.
While the terms of the transaction were not disclosed, the completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including required antitrust clearances.
