Accenture Federal Services secures $250m contract to modernize BLM IT systems
Accenture Federal Services has been awarded a substantial $250 million contract by the U.S. Department of the Interior to assist the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in operating and maintaining a state-of-the-art mission services IT platform. This strategic collaboration is set to transform the way the BLM manages over 245 million acres of federal land and 700 million acres of subsurface minerals.
Under the direction of Kathryn Larson, Managing Director and Department of the Interior Client Lead at Accenture Federal Services, the project aims to develop the Mission Services Platform (MSP). This platform is designed to improve data quality, enhance employee productivity, and transform the delivery of citizen services. Larson emphasized that the MSP is a crucial step in the BLM’s modernization journey, aiming to support the agency’s mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of federal lands for current and future generations.
Accenture Federal Services will utilize its expertise in portal development, geospatial enablement, case management, agile delivery, human-centered design, and governance to propel BLM’s digital transformation. The contract, which spans a ten-year period, represents a significant commitment to leveraging digital tools to streamline operations and support sustainable land management effectively.
